One of the things I’ve learned in my spiritual journey is the power and beauty of wisdom teachings from a variety of faith traditions. I recently came across a simple statement from Lao Tzu, the ancient Chinese philosopher who inspired The Way of the Tao, The Middle Path. Lao said this, “When the student is ready, the teacher will come.” Think about it: the importance of timing is undeniable and can have tremendous impact on what we’re able to accomplish. You just need to be ready when “the teacher” comes.
Two summers ago, after a complicated crash of my e-mail system and much frustration with traditional remedies, my husband heard about a local tech professional with a reputation for successfully handling sticky problems. That professional is Ben Marcel and his company is Torapath Technologies in Baton Rouge. Ben came to our house, spent time investigating the problem, rectified it, and then asked us if we might need help with web design and support.
At that time, Cinq Femmes was a dream for me, nothing concrete, but Ben had our attention. He shared with us that Torapath specializes in digital marketing and invited us to learn more. That conversation around our breakfast room table proved to be the first of many “holy moments” for me and the Torapath Team. Clearly, this student was ready, and the teachers had come.
Those “teachers” are three remarkably talented women: Mattie Yoes, Director of Creative Influence; Mikala Morgan, VP of Digital Marketing and Amy DeJean, CFO at Torapath. I could not have asked for a group more in sync with my particular talents, passions, and goals. You know how it is when you meet someone for the first time and you just click? You connect immediately, “speak the same language,” have tastes that align with each other. Mattie, Mikala and Amy fit those descriptions to a “T,” so much so that sometimes I’m taken aback by the blessings that have come from our working together. Call it a sense of awe when you feel that Greater Power guiding your path, call it God Moments, holy moments, call it living out what you’re meant to do, you know it’s yours when it happens.
